Teen charged as adult after Sunday afternoon shooting in Peoria

A gavel rests on a judge's bench in a blurry courtroom. The text "WCBU Courts" sits on top of that photo.

A 16-year-old will face adult charges after allegedly shooting another teenager over the weekend.

Peoria police responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 1300 block of Noth Sheridan Road just before 2 p.m. Sunday. A 16-year-old suffered a non life-threatening gunshot wound to the chest.

Janard Quin is charged with aggravated battery with a firearm in connection with the shooting. The felony charge is an automatic transfer to adult court.

Quin is being held in the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center pending a pretrial detention hearing on Tuesday.
