Two people are dead after a vehicle struck a tree off Illinois Route 116 in Germantown Hills on Thursday evening.

The crash happened just after 6:45 p.m. Woodford County Coroner Tim Ruestman said a westbound Chevrolet Camaro left the roadway and struck a tree. Passenger Brian Brunson, 37, of East Peoria was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, 33-year-old Thomas Wood of Pekin, was taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, where he was pronounced dead by Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood just after 7:30 p.m.
