Out and About in Greater Peoria: The Beatles, Star Wars night and the 2024 Lunar New Year

Here are 3 things to do for the weekend of Feb. 9 through Feb. 11, 2024, curated by WCBU's Meagan Ruger-Smith. You can find more coverage on our Out & About - Arts & Music page or by subscribing to WCBU's Weekend Fanfare email newsletter, which goes out every Friday.

The Beatles come to the Peoria Public Library: Tonight, celebrate the 60th anniversary of The Beatles landing in America with the Peoria Public Library. Enjoy trivia, live music, prizes and a viewing of the band's performance on "The Ed Sullivan Show." This free event goes from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and is adults only. Costumes are encouraged!

"Star Wars night" at Peoria Riverfront Museum: Get out of the house and head to a galaxy far, far away with the Peoria Riverfront Museum. Tomorrow, enjoy a "Star Wars" themed evening with museum exhibits, planetarium shows, movie snacks and a Giant Screen Theater showing of "Star Wars: A New Hope." This is a family friendly event and tickets include popcorn and drink combo. Wear your jedi robes or Mandalorian beskar because costumes are encouraged.

Celebrate 2024 Lunar New Year: This Sunday, celebrate the 2024 Lunar New Year with Caterpillar Chinese Resource Group and Peoria Chinese Association. This free event will feature singing and dancing performances by local talents. This event is hosted at Exposition Gardens and goes from 2 to 4 p.m.
