Carle Health Greater Peoria officially relocated its inpatient rehabilitation center from Methodist Hospital to Proctor Hospital on Thursday. The new Comprehensive Physical Rehabilitation Center is now open on Proctor's fourth floor.

Carle Health says they're now doing general surgeries at Proctor and Pekin hospitals again. This news comes just two weeks after the health care system announced they started doing general surgery out of Methodist exclusively on Dec. 1.

That was attributed to specialist availability and the "best use of resources."

The most recent change is credited to a new partnership with Springfield Clinic, which will be providing the physicians needed to restore surgical services to the other two hospitals.

Carle says there will be no interruptions in surgical services as operations adjust to the new arrangement, which began Dec. 13.

General surgery is defined as procedures for issues mostly dealing with alimentary tract, abdomen, breast, skin and soft tissue, head and neck. Other surgeries have continued uninterrupted, according to a hospital press release.
