2 people killed in crash near Kickapoo

Yellow police tape stretches across a blurry crime scene. It says "Police Line Do Not Cross." The text "WCBU Police and Fire" lays on top of that photo.

Two people are dead after a crash Friday night on U.S. Route 150 near Kickapoo.

Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins said the two-vehicle crash happened just after 6:30 p.m. One person was found in each vehicle. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Watkins said a witness reported seeing a westbound vehicle driven by a 76-year-old Edelstein woman trying to pass a vehicle ahead of her when she struck an eastbound driven by a 67-year-old Macomb man.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood on Monday identified the woman involved in the crash as Pamela Spencer. The male driver was Richard Lien. Both suffered multiple blunt force injuries and died instantly, Harwood said.

The crash is still under investigation.
