Peoria police are investigating the death of a man early Saturday.

Police responded to a nine-round ShotSpotter alert in the 200 block of East Thrush just before 12:45 a.m.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said 24-year-old Kobe Johnson of Peoria was found unresponsive in the roadway. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead shortly after.

Harwood said there's no evidence Johnson was shot. He died from multiple blunt force trauma and crush injuries after he was struck by a vehicle. Harwood said he likely died instantly.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Peoria police.
