Coroner identifies construction worker killed Monday at Chillicothe crash site

The construction worker killed Monday morning while helping at a crash scene in Chillicothe has been identified.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says the victim was 49-year-old Christopher Neff of East Peoria.

Harwood says Neff was wearing neon clothing and had his vehicle's caution lights on when he was struck by a passing vehicle. Neff was picking up debris off the roadway from a previous crash at Route 29 and Hillcrest Drive.

Neff suffered multiple blunt force injuries and likely died instantly.

The Illinois State Police are continuing their investigation into both crashes.
