A man is dead after he stopped to help following a wreck Monday morning in Chillicothe.
The first crash happened when a vehicle headed onto Route 29 from Hillcrest Drive was struck by another vehicle headed south on Route 29.
Police said a group of construction workers provided assistance after the crash. A worker cleaning up debris on the roadway was struck by a passing vehicle headed south on Route 29.
The man died from his injuries. His identity hasn't been released yet by the Peoria County Coroner's Office.
Both incidents are under investigation by the Illinois State Police.
