The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Peoria plans to name their expanded family center on Grinnell Street after the late Lesley Matuszak.

Matuszak was the executive director of the organization for 18 years prior to becoming president and CEO of public television station WTVP in 2019.

The new expansion and renovation of the Grinnell campus will include a gym, classrooms, technology, and a cafeteria.

Matuszak died last month, a day after resigning from the financially-troubled PBS station. Boys & Girls Club of Greater Peoria board president Lee Graves says Matuszak's family and the Peoria community at large will be closely involved in the process.

Fundraising kicks off Nov. 2 at the annual Fill the Treasure Chest event at the Peoria Civic Center. Funds can also be donated online.
