1 person arrested after Saturday night shooting of West Peoria bar employee

One man was injured and another was arrested after a Saturday night shooting at Mike's Tavern in West Peoria.

According to a news release from the Peoria County Sheriff's Department, officers arrived at the bar at 626 N. Cedar St. around midnight and found one adult male employee of the bar with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

The man's injuries are not life threatening.

A vehicle and nearby residence also were struck by gunfire.

The sheriff's department said officers eventually located Anthony Gates walking nearby. Gates,43, matched the suspect description and officers said they found a firearm nearby.

Gates was arrested and booked in the Peoria County Jail on charges of aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of firearm with no FOID and possession of firearm by a felon.
