Former Pekin City Manager Mark Rothert is the new East Moline city administrator.
Rothert was fired by the Pekin city council in October 2022. He briefly served as the Galesburg interim public works director before landing the job in the Quad Cities.
Pekin has been without permanent leadership in the city manager's office since Rothert's departure. Finance director Bruce Marston served as the interim city manager until his own departure from city government. Police chief John Dossey is currently serving as the interim city manager.
Rothert previously worked as the Peoria County assistant administrator and executive director of the Spoon River Partnership for Economic Development.
His first day with East Moline was Aug. 23. Rothert replaces retiring city administrator Doug Maxeiner.
