A Marquette Heights teenager is dead after he was shot in the head, apparently unintentionally, on Saturday night.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said the accident happened just before 9:30 p.m. in Marquette Heights. Caden Thomas, 15, died a couple hours later at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
The exact circumstances of what happened remain unclear.
Harwood said Thomas's death is under investigation by the Illinois State Police as an "unfortunate accident."
