Out and About in Greater Peoria: Cupcake making, community theater and paint your pet

Here are 3 things to do for the weekend of July 28-30, 2023, curated by WCBU's Meagan Ruger-Smith. You can find more coverage on our Out & About - Arts & Music page or by subscribing to WCBU's Weekend Fanfare email newsletter, which goes out every Friday.

Mocktails, charcuterie and cupcake decorating: In need of a girls' night out? Don't worry because Frosted: Sweets and Treats Bakery and Coffee Shop has your back! Tonight from 6 to 7:30 p.m., join Girls Night Out to drink mocktails, eat charcuterie and learn tips and tricks on cupcake making. Tickets are $45 and participants must be 21+. Be sure to sign up to ensure a spot!

Meet some theater directors: Interested in getting involved in community theater but don't know where to start? Head to Corn Stock Theatre this Saturday to hear about the upcoming winter season, which includes a play directed by WCBU's Jody Holtz! The entire community is invited to the Get Acquainted Event. Whether you're looking to be cast, crew or an audience member, tomorrow's event is the best way to get involved.

Create some art for your pet: On Sunday, head to Herold's Pizza Oven in Sterling Plaza for another Paint Your Pet event raising funds for homeless pets in central Illinois. Megan Couri's artistic skills are the key to you leaving with an amazing piece of art featuring your own pet. She will sketch your pet based on the file you upload. Make sure the photo has only one pet and no people. After it's sketched, Megan will make it into a paint-by-number canvas and give you all the tools you need. Get your tickets before they sell out!
