Out and About in Greater Peoria: 50th Aladdin Gathering, Murder Mystery Dinner Theater and a meet and greet with Peoria' Players directors

Here are 3 things to do for the weekend of July 21-23, 2023, curated by WCBU's Meagan Ruger-Smith. You can find more coverage on our Out & About - Arts & Music page or by subscribing to WCBU's Weekend Fanfare email newsletter, which goes out every Friday.

Start or grow your lamp collection: Check out the 50th Aladdin Gathering at the Embassy Suites by Hilton in East Peoria. From 2 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, there will be a lamp show and sale. Feel free to buy, sell and trade your lamps. Admission is open to the general public and tickets to enter are $5.

Murder, mayhem and a dessert bar: Bring your detective skills for a night of fun, laughter and mystery to support the women of CREW309 at Murder Mystery Dinner Theater: Mayhem at the Juice Joint on Saturday. A portion of the ticket sales will go to support the women of CREW309, a local rowing team for breast cancer survivors. Tickets include an immersive theater experience, dinner buffet and dessert bar. A cash bar is also available.

Get involved with the theater: On Sunday, meet the directors of the Peoria Players' 2023-2024 season and find out how you can get involved in their 105th season. More auditions will also be announced during the event. Refreshments will be provided. Admission is free. Auditions include The Lighting Thief, The Music Man, The Play That Goes Wrong and so many more wonderful shows.
