The Peoria Public Schools board of education has new leadership after Friday's re-organizational meeting.
Mike Murphy was unanimously elected to serve as the next president of the school board. He succeeds Martha Ross, who was just re-elected to her fourth consecutive term on the board.
Ross said she's tried to maintain the integrity of the process and the school board president's position during her tenure.
"I hope that we can go forward with the purpose that we are here for, which is to provide quality education for children of Peoria Public Schools," she said.
Murphy is the recruitment coordinator for Court Appointed Special Advocates of the 10th Judicial Circuit.
Dr. Anni Reinking was elected by a majority vote as the board's next vice president.
