A 41-year-old Princeville woman faces animal cruelty charges after 12 dogs were discovered in a locked shed behind her house.
Stacy Mueller was booked into the Peoria County Jail on Thursday on 12 counts of aggravated cruelty to animals.
Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins said one dog was dead and there was no food or water in the shed. Temperatures inside reached 110 degrees.
A total of 21 living animals were removed from Mueller's house. Watkins said all the animals showed signs of malnutrition.
The sheriff also said another suspect is being sought.
