A shooting suspect is in custody after a woman was critically injured this morning in Dunlap.
Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins says 26-year-old Walter Artis was arrested at a gas station in Morton after he attempted to flee police on foot.
Watkins said Artis had a handgun when he was arrested. He was arrested for aggravated battery with a firearm, home invasion, aggravated domestic battery, and no valid FOID card.
Watkins said he has children with the 22-year-old victim.
