Peoria man sentenced to 60 years in prison for father's 2018 murder

A gavel rests on a judge's bench in a blurry courtroom. The text "WCBU Courts" sits on top of that photo.

A Peoria man was sentenced to 60 years in prison this week for the 2018 murder of his father.

Authorities Mark Runyon, 43, struck his 74-year-old father multiple times, including on the head and chest. Frank Runyon died from his injuries days later.

Mark Runyon was convicted by a jury in October on one count of first-degree murder. He must serve 100% of the sentence, with credit for three years already served. Runyon is appealing.
