Peoria County state's attorney asks additional victims to step forward after suspect's sexual assault indictment

A gavel rests on a judge's bench in a blurry courtroom. The text "WCBU Courts" sits on top of that photo.

A Peoria County grand jury has indicted a suspect on multiple sexual assault charges.

Peoria County State's Attorney Jodi Hoos said 39-year-old Demarquis Turner was is charged in three separate cases of criminal sexual assault.

He's being held on $1.25 million bond.

The three cases happened between 2004 and 2016, according to the charges, and some of the women were strangers to the suspect. DNA was used to solve the cases.

Hoos believes there may be additional victims, and is encouraging other victims of assault to step forward and report the incidents to police, even if decades have passed.
