One silo down, but still more to go.
That's the latest development from the BioUrja ethanol plant over the weekend.
Peoria Fire Department interim chief Shawn Sollberger said one of the grain silos damaged in a grain bin explosion was demolished on Sunday. Nitrogen gas was used to mitigate the smoldering fire, and firefighters continued wetting down the silo and grain after demolition.
Demolition of the remaining silos is set to continue Monday.
