One person is dead and two others injured after a two-vehicle crash in Peoria County on Friday night.

Peoria County Sheriff's Capt. Chris Watkins said deputies responded to the crash in the 5600 block of Southport Rd. just before 8:45 p.m.

Watkins said a sedan headed west on Southport Rd. struck an eastbound pickup head-on.

An adult man driving the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood identified him on Sunday as 58-year-old Darrell Harper of Edwards. He was the lone occupant of his vehicle, and likely died instantly in the crash. Toxicology tests are pending.

Two passengers in the pickup truck were transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.

The Peoria County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash.
