New Peorians invited to mingle at 'mixer' featuring free food, drinks, and a Rivermen hockey game

Did you relocate to the Peoria area in the last couple of years?

You may be interested in attending this weekend's Greater Peoria Area Newcomer Mixer event.

Co-hosted by the CEO Council, Greater Peoria Economic Development Council and the Peoria Chamber of Commerce, the mixer takes place 6 p.m. Saturday in the Lexus Club of the Peoria Civic Center.

The mixer itself will feature food, a cash bar, and raffle prizes. (Registration includes one free drink ticket.)

Attendees will also be able to attend the Peoria Rivermen hockey game inside the Civic Center at 7:15 p.m.

Kelly Schneider is the program director for the CEO Council. She says she hopes those who have recently moved to Peoria take advantage of the opportunity to meet other transplants.

"In ... pandemic times, it's been challenging for people to make connections with other people in a community, especially when they're brand new," she said. "So we really just wanted to give them an opportunity to connect with other people that are in a similar situation, new to the area."

Organizers are asking the public to register online by Thursday at the latest.
