Police: Driver in fatal Woodford County UTV incident fled authorities before crash

The driver involved in a fatal crash in Bayview Gardens has been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Ryan Pitts, 24, of East Peoria, died March 15 when the UTV rolled over near Hillside and Mile Tree roads in Woodford County.

Pitts, a passenger on the UTV, was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver, 25-year-old Kenneth Brinkley of Spring Bay, was taken to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries and subsequently was and charged with aggravated DUI, a class 2 felony.

The Illinois State Police said the UTV struck a Woodford County squad car near Santa Fe Trail and Spring Bay Road prior to the crash. The UTV then fled the scene.
