The Peoria area is expecting 3 to 9 inches of snowfall Thursday. While that's less than what was predicted before the winter storm took a southerly turn, many Central Illinois schools and businesses are closing up today ahead of the inclement weather.
Peoria snow crews are pre-treating streets for refreezing before temperatures drop and snow falls. Most municipalities in Central Illinois have implemented parking bans.
The following are closed Thursday:
- Peoria Public Schools District 150 will have an e-learning day on Thursday.
- Bradley University is closed Thursday. All scheduled on-campus classes are canceled. Most campus facilities will be closed.
- Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg is closed Thursday.
- Easterseals Central Illinois is closing its Peoria and Bloomington locations Thursday. Clients with scheduled therapy appointments will be contacted.
- Eureka College is closed Thursday. There will be no Loop COVID-19 testing available on campus Thursday.
- Morton School District 709 will have an e-learning day Thursday.
- The Salvation Army Child Care Center in Peoria will be closed Thursday.
