Around 3,000 Illinois American Water customers in Bartonville and Peoria are under a boil order after a water main break.
A 16-inch water main break near Interstate 474 in Bartonville led to a drop in water pressure. Illinois American Water spokesperson Karen Cotton said a boil order is issued as a precaution whenever water pressure drops below 20 pounds per square inch.
The main was fixed Wednesday afternoon, but the boil order remains in effect likely through at least Thursday morning.
Limestone Community High School dismissed student at 9 a.m. Wednesday due to the water main break.
