A Washington man was arrested Friday in connection with the murder of his infant son.

Washington Police Chief Mike McCoy says first responders were called January 19 for an infant in medical distress. The baby, 3-month-old Cree Van Winsen, was taken to a Peoria hospital, where he died. An autopsy showed he suffered abusive head trauma inflicted by another person.

Washington police continued the investigation. Zachary Van Winsen, 29, of Washington was arrested for first degree murder in connection with the baby's death.

Van Winsen was taken to the Tazewell County Jail.
