Multiple agencies seek suspect who allegedly exchanged gunfire with Peoria police officers

Law enforcement officers are seeking a suspect in an officer-involved exchange of gunfire just before midnight.

Peoria police officers responded to the 1200 block of E. McClure on a report of suspicious activity involving a person armed with a gun. Officers on scene encountered a man, who fled from police on foot.

During the course of the foot pursuit, Peoria Police Lt. Bryan Sylvester said gunfire was exchanged between the suspect and officers. No officers were injured by the gunfire.

The suspect escaped the area. Peoria police turned the investigation over the the Illinois State Police Zone 4 Investigations.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Authorities said he should not be approached. Police weren't able to identify the suspect through photos.
