Peoria authorities said Wednesday that a 2-month-old's death earlier this month is now being investigated as a homicide. It is Peoria's 32nd homicide of the year — a modern record.

The infant, Conner Yeo, died Tuesday after being hospitalized for 11 days, said Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood. An autopsy performed Wednesday shows he died from severe blunt force head trauma caused by another person, Harwood said.

Emergency responders were called Nov. 12 to a home in the 5900 block of North Cypress Drive for a report of an infant not breathing, Harwood said.

The child was successfully resuscitated and aggressively treated for several days at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Harwood said. But he died from his injuries.

This case remains under investigation as a homicide by the Peoria Police Department.
