Life sentence handed down for man convicted in 2021 Peoria murder case

A gavel rests on a judge's bench in a blurry courtroom. The text "WCBU Courts" sits on top of that photo.

A 22-year-old man was sentenced Friday to life in prison for his role in an October 2021 murder in Peoria.

Gary Irby is one of three people charged in connection with the death of 17-year-old Jerry Snipes, Jr., who was shot 10 times, mostly in his back. At least two different guns were used.

Jeremy Moore, 21, was sentenced in February to 80 years in prison for his role in the murder. Tyranique Whit, 20, also is charged in the case, with a hearing scheduled for next month.
