Local libraries are co-hosting a virtual Q&A event with Los Angeles-based freelance journalist Sam Quinones.

From 6:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, Quinones will discuss his latest reporting and answer questions via Zoom.

Quinones is best known for his 2015 bestselling book “Dreamland: The True Tale of America’s Opioid Epidemic.” In his latest book “The Least of Us: True Tales of America and Hope in the Time of Fentanyl and Meth,” Quinones chronicles the drug-trafficking world's transition from plant-based drugs to producing massive supplies of synthetic drugs.

The book also explores stories of American communities tackling the drug epidemic together.

Monday's event is presented by the Chillicothe Public Library, Eureka Public Library, Illinois Prairie District Public Library and Peoria Public Library.

Register for the event online.
