The death of a Peoria woman on Wednesday is now under investigation as a homicide, marking the city's 27th murder of the year.

Officers responded to the 1900 block of North Dechman Avenue just after 12:45 p.m. about a possible suicide. An adult woman was found unresponsive, and pronounced dead at the hospital less than an hour later.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Danielle Thomas, 33, was found with multiple stab wounds on her body. She likely died seconds after being attacked, he said.

Thomas' death was called a death investigation by authorities on Wednesday, but Harwood said it is now considered a homicide.

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call the Peoria Police Department at (309) 673-4521 or CrimeStoppers anonymously at (309) 673-9000.
