Caterpillar's third-quarter sales and revenues were up 25 percent in 2021, compared to this time last year.

The company reported $12.4 billion in sales and revenues this quarter, driven primarily by higher sales volume and more demand for equipment and services.

Caterpillar chairman and CEO Jim Umpleby says the company is maintaining profitable growth while mitigating supply chain challenges.

The company's operating profit margin was 13.4 percent for the third quarter. Profit per share was $2.60.
