The Peoria Park District board of trustees has approved a conceptual reimagination of Glen Oak Park.

That plan includes removing the fence and barbed wire around the amphitheater space, and replacing the existing Tri-Centennial Playground with a new all-inclusive playground.

The concept also calls for tearing down the existing 1959 band shell and replacing it with a more modern structure.

The board will determine exactly what that new band shell will look like at a later date.

The changes are funded by a $2 million state grant.
