Bond Set at $1.5M For Peoria Man Charged In Woman's Shooting Death

A gavel rests on a judge's bench in a blurry courtroom. The text "WCBU Courts" sits on top of that photo.

Bond is set at $1.5 million for a Peoria man charged in the shooting death of a woman over the weekend.

Joshua McGee, 35, was charged with first-degree murder during an appearance Tuesday afternoon in Peoria County Circuit Court.

Police said Ashley Tankersley, 37, also of Peoria, was found in a ditch near Jubilee College State Park early Sunday morning. She had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and likely died instantly, said police.

McGee was arrested Sunday afternoon following a police standoff at a rest stop near Springfield.

He is due back in court on Sept. 23.
