Yellow police tape stretches across a blurry crime scene. It says "Police Line Do Not Cross." The text "WCBU Police and Fire" lays on top of that photo.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood has identified the woman who died of multiple gunshot wounds after she was found Sunday morning near Jubilee College State Park.

Harwood said the victim was 37-year-old Ashley Tankersley of Peoria. She was pronounced dead at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center early Sunday morning.

Peoria County Sheriff Brian Asbell said a person of interest in a homicide was found later Sunday at a rest stop near Springfield.

Joshua McGee, 35, of Peoria, was arrested at the Railsplitter rest area along Interstate 55 southbound early Sunday afternoon for Tankersley's murder. He's expected to appear Tuesday in Peoria County circuit court for formal charges.

Harwood said Tankersley was shot multiple times in the torso and likely died instantly.
