The most fully vaccinated zip codes across the Tri-County area are also the region's wealthiest, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
The IDPH released new data this week breaking down statewide vaccination rates by zip code.
In Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties, wealthier zip codes had higher rates of full vaccination, a WCBU data analysis found.
The correlation between income and vaccination rate was most stark in Peoria County, where the Dunlap zip code of 61525 had a full vaccination rate of 72.46 percent. Dunlap's median income is $103,344.
South Peoria's 61605, which has a median income of $19,442, had Peoria County's lowest full vaccination rate: 24.06 percent.
The second-lowest rate (26.72 percent) was in West Bluff's 61606, where the median income is $35,904.
The correlation between median income and vaccination rates was not as stark in Tazewell County as it was in Peoria County, however higher-earning zip codes generally saw higher vaccination rates than poorer zip codes.
In Tazewell County, the most fully-vaccinated (55.83 percent) zip code was Morton's 61550. This zip code holds the county's second-highest median income ($70,745.)
Tazewell County's highest earning zip code (Groveland's 61535) saw the county's third-highest full vaccination rate (53.39 percent).
In Woodford County, the most fully-vaccinated (55.93 percent) zip code was Metamora's 61548, where the median income is also the county's highest ($83,294.)
Average full vaccination rates in Peoria County (47 percent), Tazewell County (43.84 percent) and Woodford County (41.2 percent) still trail the state average (52 percent.)
In nearby McLean County, more than half of residents (50.2 percent) are fully vaccinated.
Anyone in the U.S. 12 and older is eligible to get a vaccine, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
