A 33-year-old Peoria man faces multiple charges after allegedly shooting a police officer and another man near the Taft Homes early Sunday morning.

Tyrell Logan was arrested on numerous weapons counts in connection with the incident. He faces charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, and two counts of aggravated battery in Peoria County circuit court. All are felony charges.

Peoria Police Sgt. Amy Dotson says Logan was the driver of the private vehicle used to drop off the other shooting victim at the hospital.

The officer had encountered that victim at the scene. Police say Logan matched a description of the shooter in the Taft Homes incident.

Both shooting victims are expected to survive.

Police say they recovered the gun used in the shooting incident inside a vehicle on Green Street.

Logan's bond is set at $1 million. He's due to appear in court again for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 26.
