The Land of Lincoln Border Collie Club is holding a nationally ranked Border Collie Sheep Herding competition with dog/handler teams coming from throughout the USA.. The competition will take place on 2 fields, one for the less experienced dogs and one for experienced dogs, called the “open” class. The latter are competing for points needed to qualify for the National Finals. The courses are set up to emulate the work the border collie has to do on a working sheep ranch – e.g. gathering sheep from 300+ yards away, driving them through panels, then penning them, and in the open class shedding off 1 or 2 sheep from the rest.
