How to vote in Greater Peoria

The 2024 General Election is Tuesday, Nov. 5. Applications for mail-in voting are now open and early voting begins in Sept. 26. Find when and how you can vote in your county below.

How do I register?

In order to register to vote in Illinois, you must:

  • be a U.S. Citizen
  • turn 18 on or before Election Day
  • Have lived in your district for 30 days prior to Election Day. 

Incarcerated persons currently serving a felony conviction are not able to vote in Illinois. Voters also can not claim the right to vote anywhere else.

When does early voting start?

Early voting in Illinois starts Sept. 26 and goes until Election Day. Election commissions will operate as permanent voting sites for early voting and some counties are opening temporary sites as well.

Peoria County has 12 sites for early voting. You can find them here.

Tazewell County has five early voting sites. You can find them here.

How do I vote by mail?

Illinois has permanent vote by mail. Mail-in ballots can be requested online, over the mail or in-person. Requests for mail-in ballots are now being accepted by elections commissions.

Ballots must be mailed on or before Election Day. Election commission's will count ballots that arrive up to 14 days after the election. Mail-in ballots can also be returned in-person.

How do I vote on Election Day?

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 5.

Peoria County voters can now vote at any of the county’s 55 voting sites, instead of an assigned polling place. You can find a list of all 55 sites here.

Tazewell and Woodford County voters can find their precinct through the Illinois State Board of Education’s Polling Place Locator.

You can register to vote on Election Day. Voters registering day of must bring two forms of identification, with at least one showing your current address.
