Bughouse Square

A sound installation by Polish-born artist Miroslaw Rogala in Chicago's Washington Square Park that takes viewers/participants back to the days when the park was called Bughouse Square...for the constant cacophony from soapbox preachers and politicians. The installation is interactive...visitors trigger light sensors that, in turn, trigger different speeches from different eras, and the mix of chatter depends on how the visitor moves through the installation. It's all about the importance of free speech. Rick Karr reports from Chicago.
