Washington Mayor Marion Barry has spent the last week at several retreats, most recently at a healing center in St. Louis to in his words, "seek mental, physical, and spiritual rejuvination." In a statement issued to the public last weekend, the mayor also referred to the 12 Step Program of Alcoholic Anonymous that states that every person should take a "fearless personal moral inventory." Daniel talks to former Senator Harold Hughes, who describes himself as a recovered alcoholic. Hughes is known for his long-term commitment to issues related to addiction and is familiar with the pressures politicians face when they have to deal with their problems in the public eye.
