A resurfacing project on U.S. Business Route 24 in the downtown Washington square has grown. The Washington City Council on Tuesday approved resurfacing parking areas and repairing sidewalks.

A nearly $600,000 bid to repair the historic Candlewood Bridge in Washington has been rejected by the city and the project will be rebid.

Business building and property improvement grants for Countryside Banquet & Catering and Sleep Inn were approved Monday by the Washington City Council.

The Washington City Council gave the city the go-ahead Monday to begin legal proceedings that most likely will result in the demolition of a blighted home at 121 S. Elm St.
