A Maquon woman charged with concealing a decomposing body in a storage unit is now accused of murder.
Knox County prosecutors filed amended charges on Monday for Marcy Oglesby, 50, including first-degree murder, aggravated battery by administering a toxic substance, and concealing a homicidal death.
The decomposed body was discovered inside a box in the storage unit at 105 E. 3rd St. in Maquon after a report of a suspicious odor during the Knox County Scenic Drive in October.
Oglesby was the owner of the storage unit and lived across the street.
She pleaded not guilty to the original charges on Oct. 31.
Then a judge denied a motion to reduce her bail, instead granting the state’s request to increase her bond from $10,000 to $100,000, because of other felony charges for possessing and selling firearms belonging to the deceased person.
She remains in custody at the Knox County jail.
A preliminary hearing for the amended charges is scheduled for Wednesday.
