2018 brings Governor's Race, Other Big Contests in Illinois

The new year will be one of big decisions in Illinois.

Voters in 2018 will decide whether to give Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner a second term. Other statewide, legislative and local races also will be on the ballot. 

Tech giant Amazon is expected to announce where it will locate its second headquarters and some 50,000 jobs, with Chicago and other cities in Illinois among the many sites competing for it. 

Some high-profile court cases are likely to move forward, including a possible trial for former U.S. Rep. Aaron Schock of Peoria, who's pleaded not guilty to corruption charges. 

And construction of Barack Obama's presidential center is scheduled to begin on Chicago's South Side.
