Rauner Releases Tax Returns

Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner made $188 million last year.  That’s according to tax returns released today.  Rauner’s income this year was more than 3 times the $58 million he made last year.  He earned his fortune as a venture capitalist before taking office in 2014.

When he became governor - he put his investments in a so-called blind trust.  His 2015 tax returns show Rauner and his wife paid more than $50 million in federal and state taxes.

One way Rauner has spent his personal fortune is by helping the Illinois Republican Party.  He contributed more than $25 million this year to help Republican candidates for the Illinois statehouse.  Six Democratic seats flipped to Republican this year.
