WEST POINT, Ill. (AP) - Farmers and others in an area of western Illinois that is experiencing moderate drought say their crops look good in spite of the dry weather.
Bryan Stevens farms near West Point. The town is about 90 miles northwest of Springfield.
Stevens says his corn and soybeans have received almost no rain over the past month or so. But he says his crops are doing "surprisingly well."
Hancock County Farm Bureau Manager Kristin Huls says little rain has fallen in the area recently.
According to the U.S. Drought Monitor that area and adjacent parts of Missouri and Iowa are in moderate drought. Many other parts of central Illinois are abnormally dry. Rain is forecast across much of the state this week.
