The Baseball Hall of Fame is launching a nationwide tour with the Quad Cities as its first stop. The "We Are Baseball" Tour opened in Davenport Sunday.
Erik Strohl, Vice President of Exhibitions and Collections for the Hall of Fame, calls the tour "a mobile exhibit experience.""These exhibit spaces are double-wide tractor trailers in essence..."
Inside the trailers are artifacts from baseball icons like JoeDiMaggio, Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb. Also, there are interactive exhibits, like one that allows visitors to make their own Hall of Fame plaque as a souvenir. Strohl says the tour also features a new film called "We Are Baseball." "And one of the centerpieces for the show..."
The Baseball Hall of Fame Tour will be in Davenport July 3-10. Next stops include Milwaukee, Kansas City, Saint Louis, Minneapolis, and Las Vegas. By the time it ends in six years, the tour will have stopped in hundreds of cities across North America.
