1st Justice Department forum into CPD is Wednesday night

The Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Justice Department says it will hold a forum Wednesday to discuss its investigation into the Chicago Police Department and to hear from community members about their experiences with it.

The division is investigating to determine whether Chicago police have systematically violated residents' rights. The review was prompted by the police shooting of black teenager Laquan McDonald. It says its investigation is focused on use of force and police accountability.

The forum will be held in the U Building at Kennedy King City College starting at 6:30 p.m.  Two additional forums will be held in July.
