Deere supports Trans Pacific Partnership

Deere and Company hopes Congress will ratify the Trans Pacific Partnership. The company announced its support Wednesday after the US and 11 other countries signed the trade agreement.

Deere serves customers in all the participating countries, and has facilities in seven of them.

Chairman and ceo, Sam Allen says, "A robust US trade agenda expands jobs and opportunities for American workers, farmers, and businesses. This benefits our customers, our employees, and expands our business opportunities."

He says nearly 40% of company revenues now come from sales outside of the US and Canada. And up to one-third of the larger Deere equipment, that's produced in Iowa and Illinois, is exported.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
