Deere aquires planting equipment maker Monosem

Several months after the deal was first announced, Deere and Company now owns the European leader in precision planters.

Today, it completed the acquisition of Monosem.  Monosem has two plants in France and two in the US, and Deere says the purchase will add new types of planting equipment to its product line, plus expertise in engineering and planting technology.

Monosem will keep its brand and trademark.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
